Being Thankful

What gets me through the bad times - anger, anxiety, fear, frustration, depression, - is simple thankfulness to God. I begin by willing to be thankful - I might not even "feel" thankful. But I know, deep in my heart and soul, all that God has done for me!  As my mind travels through my memories, thankfulness and joy and awe (Fear of the Lord) begin to well up, like an overflowing fountain! Pray with me, then, in thanksgiving for all that God has done for you:
Thank you, God, for creating me, for making me the person I am. Thank you for my gifts. Thank you for making me capable of giving and receiving love and caring.
Thank you, God, for the loved ones You've given me, even if relationships have ended or others have gone to live with You. Each person has been in my life for a reason, even if only You know the reason.  Each has formed me, shaped me, into who I am today. Some who seem to be my "crosses" in reality are developing my patience, deepening my compassion.
Thank you, God, that You are with me every moment of every day. I exist because I am in Your thoughts! Beside me, before me, behind me, above me, within me, You surround me, infuse me, with Your tremendous love and strength.  I can do all things, go through all things, because of Your never-failing Presence and Love. Amen.

    BIOGRAPHY
I've loved to write since I was twelve years old. The smells of fresh paper and ink galvanized me! Now I'm galvanized by the sight of a keyboard. Short stories were fun; then I wrote poetry at Sacred Heart Academy, and Rosary Hill College.  By the time I attended Christ the King Seminary, my friend Kathy Sutter and I co-wrote two musicals, "ACTS" and "Hadassah", and Kath began the Alden Christian Theater Society.  My husband, Paul, is a Permanent Deacon in the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo, New York, whom I met through our mutual loves of words and music - in singing, acting and writing.  We have five children ( all into music, drama, dancing, and writing), eleven grand-children, and numerous siblings and cousins.  One of our sons died two years ago; his loss confronted me with how precious the gifts of relationships and time are. My great loves are reading, especially murder mysteries, writing (I'm currently writing a murder mystery), doing crossword puzzles, traveling, and most especially visiting our family and friends throughout the Diocese and country.
