- To the spouse who gives in and changes the toilet paper roll in the middle of the night instead of taking the easy way out and grabbing some kleenex.
- To the spouse who never fails to keep tabs on when the clean towels are running out - and quietly puts in a load of wash.
- To the spouse who changes a light bulb when you wail that you're too short (and you REALLY just don't want to get out the step ladder.)
- To the spouse who may grumble a little but is willing to let you vent in the middle of his/her nap.
- To the spouse who is willing to cut/rip off the dratted cellophane on the Listerine bottle.
- To the spouse who'll play games with the kids while you go to your bedroom, shut the door, and drink in the silence....
- To the spouse who forgives you for grabbing and using his/her toothbrush when your eyes weren't open yet in the morning.
- To the spouse who does the most shoveling and/or snow-blowing. Or cuts the lawn the most. Or weeds the garden the most.
- To the spouse who never minds grilling dinner outside in weather the postman would hate.
- To the spouse who remembers your anniversary and birthday - or at least the approximate dates.
- To the spouse whose eyes lovingly follow you when you're in separate parts of a room at a party.
- To the spouse who always remembers your favorite song from the time you were first dating.
- To the spouse who waits patiently in the waiting room while you're having surgery and is the first person to tell you you're o.k. when you wake up in the recovery room.
- To the spouse who prays with you and for you so that you constantly feel comforted by God's Presence.
- To the spouse who can make you laugh when you're ready to damn the whole world.
- To the spouse who reminisces with you about the kid who's away at college or moved out of the house - and sheds a tear with you or wipes your tears away.
- To the spouse whose face we can see in a grandchild's face, whose laugh we can hear in a grandchild's laugh - who will always live on in the next generation.
- To the spouse who goes to kids' games, plays, dance recitals, music recitals, and cheers them on with you.
- To the spouse who can always find the right occasion to open a bottle of wine.
- To the spouse who forgives you over and over for the same stupid mistakes and irritable language that happen over and over, year after year.
- To the spouse who never tires of saying "I love you."
- To the spouse who makes love to you so beautifully that you can end up laughing at comic moments, sighing at the tenderness, exploding in pleasure, and feeling the deep peace of unfailing intimacy.
- To the spouse who commits him or herself to you every sunrise and sunset with actions if not always words.
Dear spouses, you are God's greatest gift to us. You are the one person who most shines God's love into each of our lives, the one who gives us God's love in your own precious person, so that together we can experience a true beginning of Heaven on earth. We love you always!!!
