Rain..the rain never stops, your car is submerged, a huge sinkhole opens and your house begins to slide into it. You're screaming, balanced on your tilting roof, waiting, praying to be rescued. The rain starts to slow from a deluge to a thin veil. Sun begins to shine through the veil, its rays causing the droplets to shimmer into gold. And then, across the sky, a rainbow. A boat, in the distance, rides towards you. Rescue at last! Buoyed by a rainbow of hope, you clamber aboard the rowboat and head towards solid dry land. Has this ever been your life? A crisis so profound that you're lost in a storm, about to drown? And a rainbow suddenly illumines your heart, bringing you hope. You grow calmer, your breathing steadies. Your eyes, previously blinded by fear, see a rescue boat approaching. And, buoyed by a rainbow of hope, you reach out a hand, another hand clasps yours, and you climb to emotional safety. God always sends us rainbows of hope, if we only have eyes to see. Psalm 18: "He reached down from on high and seized me; drew me out of the deep waters. he rescued me from my mighty enemy, from foes too powerful for me."
