Some people struggle to climb Mount Everest. Some people struggle to get out of bed. People who have the emotional strength and guts to get out of bed when life's tragedies paralyze them are climbing the highest spiritual mountain known to man. The person who hasn't struggled to hope has never lived. Until you've asked yourself why you want to go on living, you haven't lived. Until you know you could die, you haven't lived. Until you discover life is a precarious gift from a God you have to trust, not a taken -for- granted given, you haven't begun to live. Once you hope and trust, life is yours to enjoy because you don't try to control it. The person who's never had faith enough to struggle in life neither knows his own strength nor knows why life is worth living. Until you've found something - a cause, a goal, an ideal, a purpose to struggle and sacrifice for, your personality and potential are unrealized, unfulfilled. Until your soul is touched and tried by fire, it cannot harden into solid gold. The person whose heart has never been broken is heartless. A heart too well protected can never break but it also can never struggle to learn love. Cupid shoots arrows to open our hearts to love. Jesus' heart was pierced with a lance so a Divine Ocean of Mercy could encompass us. Unless you love, you are ultimately lifeless. When faith and hope are encountered through the prism of love, all struggle is worthwhile and even a joy. Love strengthens us to endure all things. Love never fails. |
