- Did you try God?
Maybe you dive into pleasure and games, but you can't escape the wasteland of endless boredom.
- Did you try God?
Maybe you've run away from the guilt you carry. Maybe you deny that you carry any guilt at all. Maybe you're sunk into a swamp of guilt. Either you try to pretend you're perfect, or you feel like a moral failure.
- Did you try God?
Maybe you feel totally alone.
- Did you try God?
Maybe you think you're a worthless failure.
- Did you try God?
Wait! You say. I've tried God and I couldn't find Him.
But - what God were you looking for?
God isn't the Divine Stalker, out to "get" you.
God isn't the Divine Sadist, walking away from you in anger because you don't repent fast enough.
God isn't the Divine Accountant, keeping track of every sin, failure, and mistake, and telling you that you're not good enough for Him to love you.
God isn't the Divine C.E.O., hiding in His office in the sky, unconcerned for your welfare.
- Did you try THIS God?
God the Divine Father, who rushes out to embrace you and love you when you've been away from Him for a long while.
God the Divine Lover, Who has chosen you to be His beloved one from all eternity, and willed for you to grow in your mother's womb. Who loves all of you, including your skin color, your disabilities, your religion, your sexual orientation, your culture, your language.
God the Divine Communications Expert, Who has chosen to live in your soul and hard-wire you to Himself, so that He is available 24-7 for your prayers and cries to Him.
God, the Leader of an Army of angels, Who sends those angels - or else His holy people - into your life when you need them.
Jesus, the Son of God, Who loves all human beings so much that he became one of us, cried, sweated, loved, proclaimed that his Father is a God of mercy and love, healed, spoke Truth to Power without fear, was tortured, and died for us - and rose again to promise us that he has conquered death.
God the Holy Spirit, Who fills us with zest for life: endless enthusiasm for discovering who we are as individuals; endless awe over the intricacies and diversity of the unfolding universe come from the hands of the Creator; endless joy for the gift of life itself; endless overflowing love.
Try the God Who IS, instead of the God created by your fears and misgivings.
Try the God Who IS, instead of the God created by your or other people's prejudices.
Try the God Who IS - and always IS - Love and Mercy, Hope for the Future, Belief in your capacity for goodness.
This God will ALWAYS allow you to find Him.
He's not far away.
He's chosen to live in your heart - and He has no plans to move out unless you evict Him.
